Miguel Covarrubias (Mexico)

Polynesian Girl was the cover illustration for the 1963 Heritage Press hardcover pressing of Typee, a novel by Herman Melville which was loosely based on the author’s actual experiences as a captive on the island Nuku Hiva in the South Pacific Marquesas Islands in 1842. The special edition contained 24 full color illustrations by Miguel Covarrubias.
